FAST Series Resumes at Attica and Fremont for July 4th Celebration
MAUMEE, OH (6-29-09) by Bryan Autullo - FAST Series PR
As the Nation's Independence Day approaches this weekend, the Kistler Racing Products FAST Championship Series prepares to resume points racing action. Byron Reed holds a slim 9 point lead over Craig Mintz and is just 21 points ahead of Brandon Martin going into this weekend.
Mark Keegan sits in 4th place and Bryan Sebetto rounds out the Top 5. This weekend marks the half-way point of the 22 scheduled FAST events this season and an intense battle is being waged on Ohio soil for the inaugural Kistler Cup trophy and $10,000 winner's share of the FAST
Championship point fund.
Along with the great racing at both Attica Raceway Park and Fremont Speedway, several events will honor the heroes of our Military's past and present. The weekend will be filled with additional entertainment for the fans of all ages at both tracks throughout the weekend.
On Friday July 3rd, Attica Raceway Park presents Kears Speed Shop Fan Appreciation Night. The ticket price is reduced to just $10 General Admission to see 410 Sprints, 305 sprints, Late Models, and Dirt Trucks. All four divisions for one low price. In addition, there will be $1 hot dogs and .50 cent popcorn to make this a great night to bring the whole family. The pits will be open for fans before the races to get pictures and autographs with Free Attica 2009 souvenir programs. The American Legion will be presenting colors for the National Anthem and Sue Sebetto will be signing "America The Beautiful" and our "National Anthem". Also, there will be give aways during night including Toledo Mud Hens tickets, Pace Truck and Push Truck rides, and more.
On Saturday at Fremont Speedway, the events kick off at 10 am with various branches of the military setting up displays including a pull-up bar, rock climbing wall, football toss and many other games. There will be military equipment on display for the public to view. There will be giant inflatables for the kids from Journey's Fun Center in Fremont. Tim's Dirt Track Simulator's will be turning virtual laps all day and night. A petting zoo and animal rides will be provided by Tim and Lori Sidoti. The Kistler Racing Products FAST Championship Series will be selling FAST shirts and merchandise as well as raffle tickets for the World Finals World of Outlaws race in Charlotte, NC. There will also be a FAST coloring contest for the kids and a water balloon toss for prizes. A driver autograph session will also take place at some point during the afternoon closer to race time. There is no charge to enter the fairgrounds for these events throughout the day. One of the highlights of the day's events will be the FAST Pit Crew Challenge. Teams will go head to head in a timed event to replace parts on a race car while the driver must suit up and sign autographs

Please make plans to attend these events on Friday July 3rd and Saturday July 4th to honor the men and women of our Military and those who have given their lives for our Freedom.
Shaffer wins thrilling Ohio Sprint Speedweek finale at Fremont; Brubaker gets non-wing 305 victory

FREMONT, Ohio - Tim Shaffer worked his way through the field like a precision surgeon from his 14th starting spot, and took the lead with just four laps to go in the finale of the 27th Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek at Fremont Speedway Saturday and went on to score the $10,000 victory.

A huge crowd witnessed six cars battling for the lead throughout the 40-lap feature event with the lead changing hand five times on Budweiser Night with the O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions Sprints.Shaffer ducked under Brock Mayes exiting turn four on the 36th lap to grab the lead and then pulled away on a lap 37 restart for the victory, his eighth of 2009.

The win was Shaffer's second of Speedweek, as he also took the checkered flag last Sunday at Millstream Speedway. It was the 89th appearance of the O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions at Fremont Speedway.

While Shaffer, who had to win the B-main to earn his spot in the feature, took home the big check, Stevie Smith's third place finish gave him the 2009 Ohio Sprint Speedweek championship.

"This place always puts a great race on. I'm so happy to be a part of this team. Brian (Kemenah, crew chief), Janet (Holbrook, owner) and Aaron (Call, owner)...this whole team...they did a great job all week...it's a tough week," said Shaffer beside his Kistler Racing Engines, J&J Chassis backed #83.

"I let them down last night and I was determined not to do that tonight. You had to be aggressive but patient tonight. I never thought we'd get up through there. We got a great start and the lapped cars helped me tonight...they hurt me last night so that's part of racing. We're building a great team," added Shaffer in the Engine Pro Victory Lane on his third win of the season at "The Track That Action Built."

Not only is the family sponsoring the night's racing, but on Sunday, July 5, they will hold their second annual blood drive at the fairgrounds, with food, fun, racing displays, raffles and more.
Let's not forget the great racing featuring the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints, Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints and Fremont Fence Dirt Trucks. To add to the excitement, it's another Kistler Racing Products Fremont Attica Sprint Title Championship Series event. The battle for
the Kistler Cup is tight, with Byron Reed holding a very slim lead in the standings. The FAST Series will award over $50,000 in cash and contingency awards at the end of the season and is a separate point fund from both Attica and Fremont who will each crown their own champions.

FREMONT, Ohio - Brock Mayes and his pit crew got a good night's sleep after Saturday's racing at Fremont Speedway. They had stayed up all night on Friday, building a new car after he destroyed his 410 sprint while leading at Attica Raceway Park. It was worth it as Mayes won his 7th career feature on McDonald's Night at "The Track That Action Built."
"My crew hasn't been to sleep yet since Friday morning at work. They stayed up all night building a new car with stuff we had left over in the shop. Kear's - Micki and Mark - met us there for the new car and I left there at one...this feels awesome," said Mayes in the Engine Pro Victory Lane beside his J&F Construction, Mansfield Cement, Kinn Brothers Heating and Cooling backed #11b.
"This was more of a wallet and a pride thing. I told Daniel (Smith, crew chief) we aren't going two nights in a row starting on the pole and not win, so I'll see ya later," added Mayes of his second win of the season a Fremont on night #8 of the Kistler Racing Products Fremont Attica Sprint Title Series.
Fremont's Bobby Clark won his 22nd career feature by taking the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprint feature. The win moves him into a tie for 18th on the track's all-time win list. It was a very special night for Clark, who also piloted the Hammer Racing #81 in the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints. The car was decked out in a paint job similar to that raced by his idol, the late Harold McGilton. McGilton who was part of the first induction class into the Fremont Speedway Hall of Fame during ceremonies earlier in the evening.
"Sittin' there today (at the hall of fame ceremonies)...that's a real important thing. And it's great that you guys got that thing started. A lot of those people need that recognition and there's a lot more out there. Maybe some day I'll make that list," said Clark in the Engine Pro Victory
Lane beside his Al Davis Carpeting, Fremont Fence, Jenny's Copper Penny, B&L Plumbing, Erlin Trader backed #40.
"I appreciate the Hammers for letting me drive that car...that was a real nice thing for me," continued Clark. "This one is for Harold tonight," added Clark.
Castalia, Ohio's Dan Hennig had to hold off a late race charge by Jim McGrath and Jimmie McGrath Jr. to record his second career Fremont victory in the Fremont Fence Dirt Trucks.
