Speedway Ready To Embark on 52nd Season

FREMONT, Ohio (April 12, 2003) - Fremont Speedway will embark on its
52nd
season with opening night set for Saturday, April 19.
The historical dirt track, known as "The Track That Action Built," will
kick
the season off with Snyder's Floor Covering Night featuring the 410
sprints
(paying $2,500 to win); 305 sprints and dirt trucks.
The following week, April 26, "America's Series: The All Star Circuit
of
Champions" come to town for Fort Ball Pizza Night. The 305 sprints
are also
on the racing card. This will mark the 72nd appearance of the All Stars
at
Fremont Speedway since 1980. The All Stars will make three more appearances
at "The Track That Action Built" - July 1, July 3, and Sept. 6.
Last year saw five different winners during All Star events at Fremont.
Four-time All Star champion Kenny Jacobs scored his first career All
Star
win at Fremont (his 96th overall All Star win) on June 8. Kelly Kinser
picked up the July 2 Speedweek victory, with 2001 and 2002 Fremont
Track
Champion John "Poison" Ivy scoring the July 4 Speedweek win. Shane
Stewart
covered the All Star field at Fremont on Sept. 6, with Dale Blaney
taking
the victory the following night.
The third week of racing will be a team effort as Fremont Speedway and
Attica Raceway Park will host the Interstate Racing Association on
Friday
and Saturday, May 2 and 3. The IRA group is expected to bring over
20 of its
competitors to take on the Fremont and Attica stars. The Saturday show
at
Fremont is being sponsored by Willie's Sales and Service/Toro Lawn
Mowers,
and will also host the dirt trucks.
Gates will open Saturday, April 19, at 4:30 p.m. with racing at
approximately 7:30 p.m. Fremont Speedway is located four miles south
of the
Ohio Turnpike Exit 91 in the Sandusky County Fairgrounds. For more
