IRA To
Battle Ohio Stars
By Brian Liskai
FREMONT, Ohio (April 28, 2003) - The stars of the Bumper to Bumper Interstate
Racing Association will travel to Ohio this weekend to battle the Ohio
winged warriors. On Friday, May 2, the IRA will face off against the Attica
Raceway Park regulars. Then on Saturday, May 3, the stars of Fremont Speedway
will host the IRA invaders for Willie's Sales and Service/Toro Lawn Mower
Night.
Saturday night's feature will pay $2,500 to win and $300 to start the
A-Main for the 410 sprints.
"We're excited to host the IRA this weekend. It's a chance for our fans
and drivers to see racers they don't get to see that often," said Fremont
Speedway Promoter Jim Ford. "They race on comparable tracks to Fremont
and Attica, so, they will provide stiff competiton to our local drivers.
We should see some great racing."
IRA officials are predicting 25 to 35 of their drivers will travel to
Ohio for the weekend of racing, including 2002 IRA champion John Haeni,
Kim Mock, Todd Hepfner, Scott Neitzel, Steve Meyer, Ty Bartz, Travis Whitney,
Joe Roe and more. They will battle the likes of 2001 and 2002 Fremont Track
Champion John Ivy, 2002 Attica Raceway Park and 2002 Fremont runner-up
Alvin Roepke, opening night feature winner Byron Reed; eight-time Fremont
champion Mark Keegan and more.
Racing Friday is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Fremont will
open the gates at 4:30 p.m. with racing slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
