Pit Notes: Baumann Automotive Night
By Andrew Barman and Brian Liskai
FREMONT, OHIO (July 13th)-It was another big night at Fremont Speedway
on Baumann Auto Group Night. A total of 115 cars pack the Sandusky County
Fairgrounds pit area. The 305 econo sprints had the high car count of the
night with 41. The 410 sprints had 36 and the exciting dirt trucks had
38 sign into the pits. If you weren't able to get to "The Track That Action
Built" this past Saturday you missed a heck of a night of racing.
-More and more new 410 drivers made there way to Fremont Speedway this
Saturday. Eric Hysong was back in the #12 car. Second generation driver
Tom Conrad Jr. from Weston, Ohio made his first appearance at Fremont.
That was only his seventh time in a sprint car. Leipsic, Ohio's Butch Schroeder
in Charlie Brown's #99 made his way to Fremont Speedway also for the first
time this season.
-After taking 4 years off of racing after being injured in an incident
at Oakshade Speedway, Willie Keegan from Green Springs got back behind
the wheel, driving the #D5 305 sprint car which is usually driven by D.J.
Oliver.
-Former pavement pounder Mark Pridemore made his initial appearance
of the 2003 racing season at Fremont Speedway in the #25P 305 sprinter.
-Troy Vaccaro unveiled a new Gambler chassis. Not only did he have a
new car he also had a new paint job on the 7T.
-Chris Lang was back at Fremont Speedway after taking a pretty nasty
flip 2 weeks ago. Chris hasn't had the best of luck at Fremont Speedway
in the 2003 season. He went through 2 motors and has flipped once.
-Anybody that is interested in buying a pretty stout dirt truck get
a hold of Rich Farmer driver if the #29 truck. He's trying to sell his
truck so that he can buy a 305 Econo Sprint.
-The people with the Baumann Automotive Group had something really special
on there night at the races. They wanted to give something back to the
fans. 20 fans were picked from their admission tickets. They then went
onto the track where they all pick a pill numbers 1-20, and what ever number
you pick the driver that started in the position could have earned the
fan as well as themselves an extra $500. Brenda Wise was the winner of
the Baumann Automotive Bonus Program along with Rob Chaney who won a total
$3,000.
-The 410 and the 305 sprint features went non-stop with no cautions
or red flags.
-305 driver Roger Shammo will be celebrating a birthday on Tuesday.
He will be turning the big 4-1!
