True Value of Woodville
Night Goes To Miller, Laux, and Summit
By Andrew Barman
FREMONT, OHIO (September 13th)-The final points race of the 2003 racing
season occurred at the Fremont Speedway on Saturday September 13th. A total
of 123 racing vehicles signed into the pit area for True Value of Woodville
Night. It came down to the A-Main in both the 305 sprints and the dirt
trucks to determine the 2003 points champion. As of now the points are
still be checked over and should be out soon.
On the pole of the 30-lap feature event for the ALMS late models was
the 3 of Rick DeLong and on the outside front row was Hillard Miller. From
the drop of the green flag, Miller couldn't be touched. The battle was
for the runner up position as Rick DeLong, Justin Paxton, Wayne Maffett,
Jr., and Brian Ruhlman raced sometimes 4 wide for the second spot. Miller
had it on cruise control as he picked up the A-Main victory. Second was
Justin Paxton, third was Wayne Maffett, Jr., fourth was Rick DeLong, fifth
was Brian Ruhlman, sixth was Duane Chamberlin, seventh was Kris Patterson,
eighth was Jerry Bowersock, ninth was Scott Bowersock, and rounding out
the top ten was Ronnie Perrine.
The front row of the 25-lap feature event for the 305 sprint cars was
the 7k of Matt Karbler and to the outside of Karbler was the 1K of Willie
Keegan. Keegan got out to the early lead and was off hiding. Karbler, Chad
Laux, Brian Sebetto, and Ryan Lowe all did battle for the second position.
About halfway into the feature event, something happened to the 1K and
it got really loose on the front stretch. That let Karbler and Laux by
to take over the first and second positions. With about 5 laps to go, Laux
went around the top side of Karbler to pick up his second feature win of
the 2003 season at Fremont Speedway. Second was Matt Karbler, third was
Brian Sebetto, fourth was Willie Keegan, fifth went to Brian Smith, sixth
was Scott Miller, seventh was Ryan Lowe, eighth was Andy Shammo, ninth
was Bill Kraylek, and tenth was Mike Riehl.
The last race of the 2003 season was the 15 lap A-Main for the dirt
trucks. Sitting on the front row was the 30 of Dave Gibbs, and on the outside
was Dwight Waltermier. On the opening lap, Waltermier was your leader with
Rich Farmer, Bob Dible, and Joe Hartlaub following. Bob Dible moved into
the second spot and was putting pressure on the 39 of Waltermier for the
lead. Dible would get the lead going into turn 1. The fastest truck was
the 3x of Greg Summit who wasn't just racing for his 4th feature win of
the season but also the track championship. Summit would get around the
39 of Waltermier and Dible to go on and take the feature victory. Second
was Bob Dible, third was Dwight Waltermier, fourth was Rex Wright, fifth
was Bobby Davis, sixth was Rich Farmer, seventh was Steve Sabo, eighth
was Joe Hartlaub, ninth was Brian Arnold, and rounding out the top ten
was Andy Maynard.
