100 Laps of Sprint
Car Racing at Fremont
By Brian Liskai
FREMONT, OH - (July 8, 2004) -
Sprint car fans will get a special treat on Saturday, July 31 at Fremont
Speedway - 100 laps of feature racing!
Pepsi presents the Chuck Kear Memorial - Fremont 50 (laps) at "The
Track That Action Built," that Saturday. Thanks to the sponsorship of Pepsi
and associate sponsor Steinle Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Cadillac, GMC, not only
will the 410 winged sprints compete in a 50-lap feature paying $5,000 to
win and $500 to start, but the 305 sprints will be split into two separate
groups (odds and evens in points) to compete in two separate programs.
The 305s will run two separate 25 lap features - one for each group,
each will full points and utilizing the 12-car inversion system by average
points. And, each feature will pay $500 to win. So, all 305 sprints will
run an an A-main feature!
"This is our way of thanking the guys who compete here every week,
not only in our 410 sprints, but the great car counts we've had in the
305s. We've averaged nearly 50 305 sprints every week," said Fremont Speedway
Promoter Jim Ford.
Not only will the sprints run for an impressive purse, but all A-main
starters will go away with a manufacturer's product or gift certificate.
Last year, nearly $10,000 in parts and certificates were given away. Final
details on the give-aways will be released about a week before the race.
The Chuck Kear Memorial - Fremont 50 honors the founder of Kear's Speed
Shop, Tiffin, Ohio, which supplies parts and tires to racers all over the
country. The race has produced some exciting finishes over the past three
years, including wins by Butch Schroeder in 2001, Phil Gressman in 2002
and Alvin Roepke in 2003.
The 410 feature offers an enticing payoff, including: 1. $5,000; 2.
$2,500; 3. $1,700; 4. $1,400; 5. $1,300; 6. $1,200; 7. $1,150; 8. $1,100;
9. $1,050; 10. $1,000; 11. $900; 12. $800; 13. $700; 14. $650; 15. $600;
16. $580; 17. $560; 18. $540; 19. $520; 20-22. $500.
All sprints must run the track's Goodyear spec right-rear tire and
mufflers.
Gates will open on July 31 at 4:30 p.m. with qualifying at 6:15 p.m.
