1970 Late Model
Track Champ Passes Away
Dale Emery Hasselbach, Sr., 61, of Oak Harbor Rd, Fremont, died Monday,
October 10, 2005 at Bethesda Care Center.
He was born October 11, 1943, in Fremont, the son of Donald and Irene
(Emery) Hasselbach.
He served with the Army National Guard from 1961 through 1965 with a
rank of E-5. Dale was employed by Local Hall 55, Toledo as an Iron Worker,
retiring in 2001 after 26 years of service. He was also Owner of Seneca
Precast Concrete.
Dale was a Life member of the Eagles F.O.E. 712 since 1970, where he
was a Past President and Trustee. He was a Charter and Life member of AM
Vets Sandusky County Post 67 since 1996, where he was Past Commander in
1997 and 1998. Dale was a Fremont V.F. W. Men's Auxiliary member, and a
member of American Legion since 1985. He was also Founding President of
the Fremont Browns Backers Club.
He was a Race Car Driver of Late Model cars at Fremont and Findlay Speedways,
where he was the 1970 Late Model Track Champion. Dale won 16 features at
Fremont Speedway and is 28th on The all Time Winners list at Fremont.
Dale raced with many drivers in the 1970's such as De Genzman, Wally
Heminger, Roy Sheets, Jim Fleming, Ron Leaser, Ken Clark, Bruce Berryman
and Art Ball (all are track champions).
He was a 1961 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.
Dale is survived by children, John (Kathy) Yingling II, Troy, OH; Dale
(Terri) Hasselbach Jr., Jamie (Erica) Hasselbach, Heather (Mike) Rice,
Heidi Hasselbach, all of Fremont; Sister, Marilyn Genzman, Fremont; Brothers,
Thomas and Gene Hasselbach, Both of Green Springs, Rodney Hasselbach, Fremont;
Thirteen Grandchildren; One Great Grandson; and Companion, Marty Carnicom,
Fremont.
He was preceded by his Parents.
