Ivy Wins Second Feature, Scott and Rhoads also win

By Brian Liskai

FREMONT, Ohio (June 1) - John Ivy cut through the sprint car field like a
precision surgeon to pick up his second feature win of the 2002 season at
Fremont Speedway on Beck Oil Night.

Ivy, the defending track champion for the 410 sprints, started on the pole
and lead all 30 laps. After a first lap spin by Bobby Distel, the field ran
30 green flag laps, with Phil Gressman of Clyde, Ohio, making a late race
charge to take second. Alvin Roepke finished third, with Mark Keegan and
Rodney Duncan rounding out the top five.

"I just love Fremont...especially when it gets hard and smooth like this,"
said Ivy standing beside his Sid Eickelberry owned #20. "I flipped a couple
of weeks ago, and it woke me up. I knew I had to keep my line and stay
smooth and I'd be alright."

Defending track champion Bryan Scott of Castalia passed early leader and
pole sitter Bill Kraylek of Fostoria on the 19th lap and held him at bay the
last six circuits to claim his second feature win of the season at Fremont.

"We've had a couple of bad weeks. We really needed this to get us back on
track," said Scott, who has won four features (two at Attica Raceway Park)
in 2002.

Behind Scott and Kraylek at the checkered were Chris Lang, Brock Mayes and
Roger Shammo.

In the dirt truck A-main, John Rhoads picked up his first feature win of the
2002 season in his Bobby Sears Motorsports truck over Jeff Dougherty, L.J.
Connors, Steve Sabo and Jay Boyd.

"The Track That Action Built" will be hosting the All Star Circuit of
Champions on Saturday, June 8, for Wilhelm Auto Parts Night. Gates open at
4:30 p.m. with the first raced scheduled for 7:15 p.m. The 305 sprints and
dirt trucks will also be in action.
