non-wing world championship coming to Fremont

FREMONT, Ohio (July 28) - For the first time in the 51 year
history of Fremont Speedway, the stars from the Southern
California Racing Association (SCRA) will pay a visit on
Thursday, Aug. 8 for "Pepsi Presents the Non-Wing World
Championship."
Fremont Speedway is the second leg of the SCRA's swing through
the Midwest. The tour kicks off on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at Oskaloosa
Speedway in Iowa, about a 10-hour drive from Fremont.
The SCRA will bring with them drivers like Corey "The
Kruser" Kruseman; Richard "The Gas Man" Griffin,
and Troy Rutherford. The SCRA are expected to bring nearly
20 teams with them on their Midwest swing. Also expected
to be on hand are some of USAC's top contenders like J.J.
Yeley, who won the Buckeye Nationals race at Fremont earlier
in the year, Tracey Hines, Tony Elliott and more.
The 305 winged sprint cars will also be on Fremont's racing
card. The pit gates will open at 4 p.m. with the grandstand
gates opening at 5 p.m. Qualifying is set to begin at 7
p.m. with racing at 8 p.m.
Functional mufflers are required on all sprint cars.
Also coming up at "The Track That Action Built"
will be the Fremont 50 presented by Pepsi on Saturday, Aug.
10, paying $5,000 to win in the non-sanctioned event.
