Speedway banquet to honor champions

FREMONT, Ohio (Oct. 9, 2002) - Fremont Speedway will crown
its 2002 champions during an awards banquet on Saturday,
Nov. 9. There will be trophies and points money for the
top 10 in the 410 sprint, 305 sprint and dirt truck divisions.
The banquet will be held at PK's Banquet Hall, 2270 W. Hayes
Ave., Fremont. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with a buffet style
dinner to begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and can
be ordered by calling the office phone at 419-862-2206.
John Ivy will be crowned the 2002 champion in the 410 sprint
division, backing up his 2001 championship. Ivy is one of
only seven sprint car drivers ever to win back-to-back championships
in the history of Fremont Speedway.
Bryan Scott, who also won the Attica Raceway Park track
championship, scored a one-point title over Brock Mayes
in 305 sprint car battle in 2002. Scott has one three straight
track titles in the division, becoming only one of four
drivers to ever win three straight track championships in
any division at the track.
Steve Sabo successfully defended his track championship
in the dirt truck division, eding 2000 track champion Danny
Roepke by six points.
The top five drivers in each division's point standings
will be interviewed at the banquet. There will also be special
awards such as rookie of the year, most improved, etc.
