55th YEAR
Linder, Bowman, Sabo score Fremont wins

By Brian Liskai

FREMONT, Ohio (Saturday, May 27, 2006) - When some of the best in 410 sprint
car racing come to town it causes the local competitors to "get their elbows
up" to defend their home turf. Such was the case on Legendz Sports Bar Night
at Fremont Speedway Saturday.

Defending Fremont Speedway champion Mike Linder bested a strong field of
Fort Ball Pizza 410 sprints, including former World of Outlaws champion and
National Sprint Tour regular Danny "The Dude" Lasoski and NST regular Shane
Stewart along with All Star Circuit of Champions point leader Greg Wilson
and former All Star champion Dale Blaney.

In the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprint feature, Shelby, Ohio's Brad
Bowman raced to his second career victory.

It was a busy night for the Coors Light Dirt Trucks as they ran a make-up
feature from the April 22 rainout along with their regular show. Fremont's
Steve Sabo took the win in both features in thrilling fashion.

In the 30-lap 410 sprint feature, pole sitter Bryan Scott jumped into the
early lead, with Brock Mayes, Todd Heller, Bobby Clark, Linder and Lasoski
in tow. By lap three, Scott led over Mayes, with Linder moving into third.
The red would stop action on lap three when David Harrison took a nasty
tumble in turn three (he was uninjured).

The field got another lap in before the yellow would fall for Craig Mintz.
Scott would continue to lead when he hit lapped traffic at the half-way
point. Linder, utilizing the high side, would pull beside Scott on lap 15
and take the lead exiting turn four a lap later.

Linder would cruise to his second win of the year, with Scott taking second,
Dale Blaney third, Brock Mayes fourth and Lasoski finishing fifth.

"When you pull in the pits and see that Beef Packers 83 car you know you'd
better get your elbows up," said an exhausted Linder. "The track was racey
and pretty tough tonight. I have to thank my crew, Steve Linder, Richard
Sabastian, Cody White, Harvey Davis and all my sponsors, Beaverdam
contracting Wollenslagel Moving, Slammers Sports Bar....I've said it
before...this is a dream come true to race and win at Fremont...this is
where we all grew up."

In the 305 main, Bowman jumped into the lead from his pole starting spot
with Bill Kraylek in tow. Bowmancould not get away from Kraylek who hounded
him the entire 25 laps and closed when they hit lapped traffic by lap 10. By
lap 16, Bowman lead over Kraylek, Andy Shamo and Chris Andrews, who had
started 20th. The only caution would fall on lap 20, which gave Bowman a
clear track and he went on to his second career victory over Kraylek,
Andrews, Shammo and Bobby Foster.

"My crew signaled for me to go to the bottom in one and two on that restart
and it helped me a ton," said Bowman beside his Cleveland Golf sponsored
#55.

In the dirt truck make-up feature, Sabo edged Craig Huffman by a bumper at
the checkered. In the regular night's feature, Sabo and Danny Roepke raced
door to door, rubbing sheet metal the last five laps before Sabo would claim
the win, his 24th career victory, moving him into a tie for 14th on the
all-time feature win list with Johnny Beaber.

"Those were some pretty exciting finishes...I've lost by a bumper before,"
said Sabo beside his Progressive Iron and Metal sponsored truck. "Danny is a
good racer and we raced hard. We rubbed a little bit, bu that's for the
lead."

Fremont Speedway will be back in action Monday, May 29 as True Value
Hardware of Woodville presents the Sunoco American Late Model Series along
with the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 sprints and the Coors Light Dirt
Trucks. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. with racing slated to get underway at 6:30
p.m.
