55th YEAR
Kaeding sweeps Ohio NST weekend with Fremont win

By Brian Liskai

FREMONT, Ohio (Saturday, July 22, 2006) - Tim Kaeding might have to adopt
the Buckeye State after the weekend he had. The San Jose, California driver
made it two National Sprint Tour wins in a row in Ohio, as he held off his
car owner Steve Kinser to score the 40-lap Budweiser Shoot Out at Fremont
Speedway Saturday night.

Kaeding survived several yellows and a fuel stop with seven laps remaining
to score his 11th NST win of the year.

"I came by and saw that 11 car in second and said 'oh boy, here we go
again,'" said Kaeding about Kinser who battled him the last seven laps on
Friday at Attica before the driver of the Slick 50 scored the victory.

Kinser has finished second seven times in 2006, with five of those coming
behind Kaeding.

"On the restart they told me Steve was running the top...I just put the car
in the middle of the track and it took off and here we are. I'm living the
dream...to drive for Steve and Dana Kinser and to win this many races
against the best drivers in the country is just awesome."

In the early going it looked like Mt. Vernon, Washington's Jason Solwold or
Helena, Ohio's Phil Gressman would visit victory lane, as the two front row
starters battled for the lead with Mark Keegan, Brandon Martin, Kaeding and
Caleb Griffith in tow.

By lap 10, the running order was Solwold, Gressman, Keegan, Martin, Kaeding,
Griffith, Kinser, Lasoski and 21st starter John Ivy. By lap 17, Solwold and
Gressman staged a heated battle for the lead, with Kaeding now in third,
Martin, Keegan, Griffith and Keegan in tow.

Disaster would strike the leaders on lap 19, as they prepared to lap Jamie
Miller, he spun exiting turn 4 and collected both Solwold and Gressman in a
violent crash, which also involved third place running Keegan.

"I don't know if I could have caught those two...they were running a pretty
good pace," said Kaeding. "I saw the car spin and I got off the gas and hit
the brakes and about spun trying to avoid it."

That put Kaeding into the lead with now Attica's Brandon Martin, Castalia's
Caleb Griffith, Kinser and Ivy in pursuit.

Cautions would fly again on lap 22 and 28, with little change in the top
five. But on the restart on lap 29, Kinser got around Griffith to move into
third behind Kaeding and Martin. On lap 33, something in the rear suspension
of Martin's car would brake ending his great run and bringing out the
caution again.

With 40 caution laps in the books along with 33 green flag laps, the red
would be displayed for the teams to add fuel, setting up the seven lap dash
to the finish with the running order Kaeding, Kinser, Griffith, Ivy, Danny
Lasoski, Jason Meyers, Greg Wilson, 23rd starting Kerry Madsen and Shane
Stewart.

On the restart Kaeding set sail, as Kinser tried to stay close. Kaeding
would stretch his lead over Kinser, as Griffith, Meyers and Ivy battled for
third.

At the checkered it was Kaeding picking up the $10,000 pay check over,
Kinser, 19th starting Meyers who had avoided trouble late in the race as he
did a 360 degree spin in turn two, 21st starting Ivy, Griffith, Lasoski,
Wilson (up from 14th), Madsen (up from 23rd), Shane Stewart and 20th
starting Jason Sides rounding out the top 10.

The Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints once again put on a great show,
as Fremont's Bobby Foster passed Chris Andrews in the last turn of the last
lap for his second win of the season, ending Andrews streak of two straight
victories. It was Foster's 17th career victory at "The Track That Action
Built," moving him into a tie for 26th on the all-time win list.

"A couple of weeks ago, I bobbled a little or I could have made it three of
us (Andrews and Bryan Sebetto) going for the win on the last lap," said
Foster beside his JD Automovie sponsored #3j. "I have to give Chris Andrews
a lot of credit...he could have driven me into the infield on that last lap,
but he raced me clean. If I got into a little in turn three I apologize, but
I wasn't about to let another win get away...these things are so hard to
come by."

Behind Foster and Andrews at the checkered were Kevin Lee, Andy Shammo and
Scott Kraylek.

Earlier in the day, an auction was held - featuring many donated race driver
shirts, hats, parts and photos - to benefit "Cookie" Coles, a long-time race
fan who is awaitin a double lung transplant. During the night's racing
action drivers also went through the stands collecting funds, and over
$7,000 was raised.

Fremont Speedway will be back in action Saturday, July 29 for McDonald's
Night featuring the Fort Ball Pizza 410 Sprints, Fremont Federal Credit
Union 305 Sprints and the Coors Light Dirt Trucks in action. Kear's Speed
Shop will once again present the manufacturer's giveaways for the 410 and
305 sprint drivers. Last year over $10,000 worth of products and gift
certificates were handed out.
