Patience pays off for Cory Ward in Fremont dirt trucks; Kingseed wins limited lates

By Brian Liskai

FREMONT, Ohio (Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006) - Cory Ward epitomizes the old adage "patience is a virtue." The Bellevue, Ohio driver steadily worked is way through the pack to take his first career feature win on Fort Ball Pizza Palace Night at Fremont Speedway.

Sandusky's Larry Kingseed lead every lap on route to his sixth career victory at "The Track That Action Built" in the UUI Limited Late Model feature.

Jenny Spitler backed up her Truck Powder Puff victory of a year ago, edging Lacie Bordner for the Securance Service/Crown Battery, Coors Lite Trophy.

In school bus action, 410 sprint driver John Ivy held off Ross Rawlins, Rich Farmer, Craig Mintz, Billy Fleming and Barry Boos for the win in the "professional racers" challenge. In the real bus driver race (actual school bus drivers), Valerie Langenfelder claimed the victory.

In the Coors Light Dirt Truck feature, it was Fremont Speedway's all-time career feature win leader Art Ball jumping into the early lead. Eric DeVanna would take the top spot away on lap 13 of the 25-lap affair. Meanwhile, Ward, who started 19th, was patiently working his way to the front. As the white flag flew, Ward made his move  to take the lead and the win. DeVanna would hang on to second, followed by Jim McGrath and 16th starter Shawn Valenti.

In the UUI Limited Late Model feature, Kingseed would hold off several challenges by Jeff McCoy to score the victory. Following those two at the checkered were Chester Fitch, Ryan Missler and 14th starting Bill Hahn.

Fremont Speedway will be idle for the next two weeks for the Sandusky County Fair. The action will heat back up in September, beginning Sunday, Sept. 3 for the Burn's Iron and Metal 305 Sprint Invitational, one of the richest purses in the country for the 305 sprints. The Coors Light Dirt Trucks, UUI Limited Late Models and school buses will also be in action.

Coors Beer Night will feature the return of the All Star Circuit of Champions on Saturday, Sept. 9, along with the 305 sprints and trucks.
