Foster, Missler, Arnold put wraps on Fremont Speedway season

FREMONT, Ohio (Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006) - Tiffin's Brian Arnold won his third straight Coors Light Dirt Truck feature at Fremont Speedway Saturday on Hot Shots Sandblasting, Powder Coating and Painting Night, propelling him to the 2006 track championship.

Fremont's Bobby Foster scored his third win of the season in the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints while Paul Weaver wrapped up the track title by virtue of his second place finish.

Bellevue's Ryan Missler scored his first career Fremont victory in the Underground Utilities Inc. Limited Late Models.

"To close the season with three wins is unbelieveable," said Arnold beside his Burns Electric sponsored #33. "We won the track championship at Sandusky, but to win one at Fremont is even more special."

"We didn't do so well in the points this year, but to win three features is a great boost for the Deel team. They told me they want me back to race this thing next year and hopefully we can win more races and get a championship," said Foster beside his JD Automotive sponsored #3j.

"I won a feature at Attica, but I really wanted to get one here at Fremont," said Missler beside his McElwain Construction sponsored #50.

At the drop of the green for the 20-lap dirt truck feature, Shawn Valenti jumped into the lead, but it was short lived as he slid off the high side of turn one a lap later, giving the top spot to Jim McGrath. Arnold would power around McGrath a lap later.

Arnold would continue to lead when the first caution flew on lap 15, with Steve Sabo, McGrath, Cory Ward and Valenti in tow. Disaster would strike on lap 18 for McGrath who entered the last night of racing leading the point standings. THe Clyde driver would lose a right front wheel, ending his championship hunt.

Arnold would get a last lap challenge from Sabo and Valenti, but held on for the victory. Valenti would take second followed by Sabo, Ward and Art Ball.

Rookie Chad Wilson would lead the first 17 laps in the 25-lap 305 sprint feature as Dustin Dinan, Foster, Bryan Sebetto and Paul Weaver would battle back and forth behind. Foster would driver around Wilson on lap 18 to grab the top spot, and held of a charge from Weaver for the win. Sebetto, Chris Andrews and Dinan would round out the top five.

In the 20-lap limited late model feature, two-time Fremont winner Larry Kingseed would jump into the early lead, only to watch Tim Sabo take it away a lap later. The caution flew on lap 3 with the running order Sabo, Jim Gingery, Kingseed, John Bores, Brandon Perkins and Missler.

Kingseed would regain the top spot on lap 7. By lap 10, Missler had worked his way up from his 12th starting spot to second and was putting pressure on Kingseed. Missler would grab the top spot on lap 17 and cruised to the win. Chester Fitch raced his way from the back after an early race flat tire to finish second followed by Kingseed, John Mayes Jr. and Gingery.

Fremont Speedway will holds its awards banquet on Saturday, Nov. 4 at Ole Zim's Wagonshed. The top 10 in the point standings for the Fort Ball Pizza 410 Sprints; Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints and the Coors Light Dirt Trucks will receive point fund money. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with a family-style dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and can be ordered by calling the track office at 419-862-2206.
