FREMONT, Ohio - Will Brock
Mayes be able to defend his 2009 Fremont Speedway
championship in the 410
sprints? Who will step up to claim the 305 sprint
title? Can Steve Endicott
hold off the hard chargers for a second
championship in the dirt
trucks? Who will win the 2010 FAST Championship?
Those questions and more
will play out at "The Track That Action Built" as
it gets set to fire motors
for the 59th season of racing in 2010.
The 20-race schedule kicks
off on Saturday, April 17 on Pepsi Night with the
Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410
sprints, Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints
and Fremont Fence Dirt Trucks.
"When we sat down to begin
planning the 2010 schedule, we listened to many
of the suggestions from
the fans and race teams and we think we've got a
very diversified, entertaining
program set up," said Fremont Speedway
Co-Promoter Rich Farmer.
"The teams indicated they
would appreciate a week off here and there and we
have done that. There's
a night off in June, another in July and our break
in August for the fair,"
added Farmer.
Besides the always exciting
410 and 305 sprints and dirt trucks, for the
first time, the Emods will
compete at Fremont Speedway, on Kear's Speed Shop
Night, May 29, and Fisher
Performance Night, July 10.
"The fans said they wanted
to see something a little different and we worked
with Eldora and Limaland
to come up with a couple of dates to bring the
Emods in. I believe they
will put on a great show," said Fremont Speedway
Co-Promoter Andy James.
"With the cooperation of Limaland, we're putting
together a $1,000 bonus
if the same driver can win there on Friday, May 28,
and at Fremont the next
night."
Also, the Eldora and Limaland
stocks will battle the dirt trucks on two
nights, Fort Ball Pizza
Palace Night, April 24, and Burger King Night, Aug.
7.
The O'Reilly All Star Circuit
of Champion Sprint Cars will make four
appearances at "The Track
That Action Built" in 2010.
The first visit is on Kear's
Speed Shop Night (rain date of Sunday, May 30)
as the 305 sprints and Emods
also compete.
Fremont Speedway will host
the finale of the Ohio Sprint Speedweek with a
huge $10,000 to win affair
on Budweiser Night, June 26, with the 305 drivers
getting to show off their
talents without the top wings!
The All Stars will help Fremont
Speedway put a wrap on the 2010 season with
a double-header on Friday
and Saturday, Sept. 17-18 (rain date for Saturday
of Sunday, Sept. 19). All
Pro Cylinder Heads Night and Ludwig Propane Night
feature the third annual
Jim Ford Classic.
"We're working with the Sandusky
County Fair Board to once again allow free
camping that weekend. This
weekend has the potential to become a 'must-see'
race in the nation," said
Farmer.
Other highlights of the 2010
schedule include:
- The super late models of
the American Late Model Series make a
wheel-hiking appearance
on Underground Utilities Night, May 8;
- The sprint car spectacular
on JLH Construction Night, Aug. 14, featuring
410 sprints and the 305/360
sprint challenge;
- The 11th Annual 305 Sprint
Invitational paying one of the biggest purses
in the nation for that division
on Burns Iron and Metal Night, Sunday, Sept.
5, with the 410 sprints
also joining the card for the first time in the
event's history;
- Jon Wright Custom Chrome
Hall of Fame Induction Night, June 5. Ten
individuals will be inducted
into the Fremont Speedway Hall of Fame prior to
the night's racing in the
second annual event;
- Fan Appreciation Night
Presented by Helms Excavating on May 22. Fans will
pay only $10 admission to
watch the 410 and 305 sprints and dirt trucks; and
- The 11 events of the Kistler
Racing Products Fremont Attica Sprint Title
(FAST) Championship series.
There will be 11 events at Attica Raceway Park
as well with a separate
point system and fund to crown a 410 sprint
champion..
Gates open every Saturday
at 4 p.m. with racing slated to begin at 7 p.m.
(times may vary on special
events).
"Our loyal fans, teams and
business partners continue to support us and
allow Fremont Speedway to
present the biggest weekly purse in Ohio dirt
track racing...we are very
humbled and thankful," concluded Farmer.
