05/05/2001:

FREMONT, Oh. - Cortney Rapp, the driver of the #77 305 sprint, seriously injured in a crash at Fremont Speedway on April 28, is improving steadily, according to family members.

Rapp is still listed in serious but stable condition at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo with head trama. However, her father, Ed Kennedy, said she is responding well to treatment and is showing signs of improvement.

Fremont Speedway promoter Jim Ford visited Rapp Thursday, and said he was encouraged by her progress. "She's a strong young lady and she has the love and support of her family and the racing community," Ford said.

Kennedy also wanted to disspell some of the rumors floating around about Rapp's crash. He said she does not have any broken bones and her sprint car had the latest in safety equipment. He added she had her own seat in the car.

Those wishing to send along words of encouragement can send cards and letters to: Cortney Rapp, c/o Ed Kennedy, 1265 Sandusky Co. Rd. 238, Fremont, Oh. 43420. Plans are also being made to have banners at Fremont Speedway for fans to sign, wishing Rapp a speedy recovery.
