Duncan, Foster, and Roepke win opening night of Stylecrest Weekend

Fremont, Ohio (August 10th)-Day one of a two race
weekend happened at the New Fremont Speedway in
Fremont, Ohio on Friday night. It was the Schiets
Motors/Honda Night with the 410 Sprinters, 305 Econo
Sprints, and the famous Dirt Trucks at the “Track That
Action Built!” 37 410s made their way to the 1/3 mile
clay ovall. The 305 Econo Sprints had 27 and the dirt
trucks had 30 in the pit area.
The driver that set fast time at Fremont Speedway in
the 410 Sprints was John Wisbon driver of the #16
Burmeister car. The heat races went to the 21 of
Rodney Morgan, the 9 of Phil Gressman, the 22D of
Rodney Duncan, and the 92 of Mark Keegan.
In the A-Main for the 410 Sprints, Chuck Wilson and
Kelly Kinser started on the front row. When the green
flag flew, Wilson jumped out to the early lead with
Roepke and Gressman right in tow. With about 10 laps
in the book, Gressman took over the lead from Wilson
and started to pull away from the rest of the field.
On about lap 15, the 9c of Tim Crawley spun and tapped
the turn 4 wall to bring out the yellow. On the
restart, Rodney Duncan got a great jump and moved into
the 2nd spot. As the laps wound down, it became a two
car race for the lead between Gressman and Duncan.
With 5 laps to go, Duncan and Gressman raced side by
side around the entire race track until the last lap
when Duncan was able to use the lapped car of Chuck
Wilson as a pick to go on to take the win. Finishing
a close second was Phil Gressman, third was Greg
Wilson, fourth was Mark Keegan, fifth went to Kelly
Kinser, sixth was Alvin Roepke, seventh was John
Wisbon, eighth was John Ivy, ninth was David Harrison,
and rounding out the top ten was Todd Heller.
