Henry Powers to Second-Straight Top-Five

FREMONT, Ohio – For the second consecutive weekend, Cap Henry earned hard charger credits on his way to a top-five finish in northwest Ohio sprint car action. Fremont Speedway hosted its season-opening event on Saturday, where 29 cars were set to compete in the 410 division.
Henry, a native of nearby Bellevue, started the night in less than ideal fashion, pulling a wheelstand in the corner and thus losing valuable time on his only allotted qualifying lap; the 13.565 second lap around the third-mile facility was 20th-fastest of the 29 cars. That would put him seventh on the grid for the second of three heat races. Henry picked up two positions over the course of the eight-lap race to finish fifth and qualify directly for the feature.
Starting in the 18th spot, Henry found himself in a similar position to last week’s event at Attica Raceway Park, where he started 20th. With 30 laps to work his way forward, Henry set a brisk pace toward the front of the field. After a red flag stoppage nine laps in, the Genzman #53 entry would restart 12th, then zoomed into the top ten on lap 14. With ten laps left, Henry had taken over eighth in the running order and looked hungry for more; he’d move to seventh one lap later. Lap 26 saw the J&J/Level machine jump into the top five while continuing to click off strong laps, and when the white flag flew, Henry had reeled in fourth-running Jac Haudenschild, and completed his pass of the legendary driver in the nick of time to round out his 18th-to-4th drive.
Another great race night produced a happy driver and a happy team. “I’m really excited for the year. Everyone [on the Genzman team] is working hard and the car has a lot of speed,” the eager Henry said. “I got a pretty good line going diamonding each end. The guys just kept working on it and gave me a really good car come feature time.”
Henry would like to thank Level Performance, J&J Auto Racing, OC Shocks, FK Rod Ends, Simpson Race Products, Keizer Wheels, Wings Unlimited, HMS Speedways & Hobbies, Handy Grafix, and Kear's Speed Shop as well as his family, the Genzman team, and all of his great fans for their continued support.
Henry is next scheduled to compete on April 17 at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio and on April 18 at Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio, both with the FAST series in the #53 410ci winged sprint entry.
