Inside Line Promotions – FREMONT, Ohio (July 1, 2015) – Caleb Helms wrapped up the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions Ohio Speedweek ranked ninth in the standings.

The second half of the competition, which ran seven consecutive days before the final two races were rained out, was highlighted by a top-10 finish last Tuesday at Sharon Speedway in Hartford.

“That was definitely my best night,” he said. “We had a really good night and were fast all night long. I felt really comfortable.”

Helms qualified 14th quickest and fastest in his group, which started him on the outside of the second row of a heat race. He then finished fourth to lock himself into the 20th starting position in the main event.

“We passed most of the cars and not many dropped out,” he said. “I could move around. I joked with my crew during a red flag that I had one problem. The harder I go into the corners the better it sticks. The car was great.”

Helms rallied from 20th to post a 10th-place result, which marked his fourth top 10 of the season.

Unfortunately, the team struggled during the final two rounds of Ohio Speedweek on Wednesday at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe and Thursday at Fremont Speedway.

“I couldn’t carry the same speed as everyone else going into the corner,” he said. “It either slides across or once I turn it it hangs out and I’m losing all my drive. Entry into the corners was the biggest struggle.”

Helms finished 21st in the feature at Atomic Speedway and 22nd at Fremont Speedway.

“We’re just trying to figure out how we can get better because it doesn’t seem to matter what I’m doing in the car,” he said. “We’re good enough to make the show and I can hang on, but I can’t race forward like I want to.”

Helms will return to All Star competition this Friday and Saturday at Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pa., and Sunday at Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio.

“Mercer is flat and almost seems like it’s reversed banked,” he said. “The last time we were there we were horrible out of the box and got a lot better as the night went on. Hopefully we can pick up where we left off there.”
