Inside Line Promotions – FREMONT, Ohio (Sept. 22, 2015) – Caleb Helms got off to a strong start last Friday during the opening round of the Jim Ford Classic at Fremont Speedway.

Helms set quick time in qualifying for the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions event at the third-mile oval before mechanical problems hampered the remainder of his night.

“I had a really good start to the night,” he said. “Then we had a rear end break in the heat race. The floater for the brake rotor also broke.”

Helms was unable to finish his heat race, which relegated him to the B Main. He led throughout the consolation race to capture a transfer into the back of the main event, which he started 21st.

“When the track has a little moisture I’m able to run it pretty well,” he said. “In the feature we were off a little. I think it’s about the driver getting comfortable. When it slows down there’s a knack to how to get your car in the corners. And sometimes it’s hard to get in a rhythm when you’re back in traffic like that. I just struggled in the feature and we finished where we started.”

Helms ended with a 21st-place finish.

He is slated to compete this Saturday at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio, and Sunday at Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio, with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions.
