Inside Line Promotions – FREMONT, Ohio (May 31, 2017) – Kevin Mingus scored a top-10 result in 305ci sprint car competition last weekend and he might have added another if not for a flat tire.

Mingus battled in the top five the entire feature at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, on Friday after he placed third in a heat race.

“I was in the top five most of the feature and fell back a little at the end to finish seventh,” he said. “We missed the setup a little. I also caught a bolt to the face that junked my helmet. I didn’t know it at first. I don’t know if it was the adrenaline and I just ignored it, but I woke up Saturday morning with a stiff neck and when my fiancée went to put tear-offs on my helmet at Fremont she noticed it was cracked.”

The seventh-place result marked Mingus’ fourth top 10 of the season.

Mingus advanced a position to place third in his heat race to open the action on Saturday at Fremont Speedway. That lined him up on the outside of the second row for the main event.

“The track was rough and I made contact with another car and it ripped the valve stem off the left rear,” he said. “I didn’t know it at the time, but the car just kept getting tighter and tighter and I knew something was wrong and we got a caution so I pulled off.

“I’m very happy with how the weekend went. We are getting better and better each week and learning more and more.”

Mingus, who was credited with a 20th-place result, plans to race at Attica Raceway Park this Friday before traveling to Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pa., on Saturday.

“We’re going to Mercer to get some practice in before the FAST Series travels there later this year,” he said.

“Coming off the Memorial Day holiday makes you think about the sacrifices so many have made to give us the freedoms to go enjoy what we do,” Mingus said. “I want to thank all those who gave their lives for our country and thank their families for their sacrifices. I also want to thank all the veterans and their families who put their lives on the line every day for us."
