Inside Line Promotions – FREMONT, Ohio (June 28, 2017) – Kevin Mingus is excited to for a busy weekend of racing with the JLH General Contractor FAST 305 Championship Series presented by Engine Pro. The competition involves three nights of racing in Ohio during a four-day span.

Mingus will take the Huber-Mingus Motorsports team to Attica Raceway Park in Attica on Friday followed by a trip to nearby Fremont Speedway in Fremont on Saturday. The team will travel to the high-banked, quarter-mile oval of Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio, on Monday.

Meanwhile, Mingus will have to rely on help from family members, his fiancée and other race teams as team manager Kurt Huber is on vacation.

“It’s a tall mountain to climb, but I have my supervisor from work going to help Friday and Saturday along with my fiancée, Marissa, and my cousin will be there to help,” Mingus said. “Monday it’s just going to be Marissa and me, but fellow racer Kyle Capodice and his team will help. I’ve raced with a lot of these guys since my go-kart days and it’s like one big family. I know there are all kinds of other crew members who will help if I need it. It’s going to be a big test on what I’ve learned so far this year.”

Mingus is coming off a big learning experience from Fremont Speedway last Saturday when he finished fifth in a heat race and 13th in the A Main.

“In my heat I simply screwed up,” he said. “I wanted to get a good start in a tough heat and I got on the throttle too hard and didn’t let the car work and fell back to fifth. I just overthought and overdrove. In the feature I was able to navigate around on a tricky track. I have always been hesitant to try the high line in (turns) three and four at Fremont and I gave it a shot. By the end of the feature I was comfortable enough to drive the car into the corner harder than ever for me on a slick track. I learned a lot, like not using the brake on the cushion.

“We have been getting good pill draws for the heat and I just need to do better to finish in the redraw to put us in a better position in the feature.”

Mingus is currently tied for 13th in the FAST championship standings and is 13th in the standings at Attica Raceway Park and 15th at Fremont Speedway.

“There’s like 20 points separating us from the top 10 in FAST points and I’m hoping we can pick it up this weekend,” he said.
