Adams Excited to Tackle 2018 After Impressive Rookie Season

Inside Line Promotions – GIBSONBURG, Ohio (March 20, 2018) – Like most teens, Justin Adams is still growing. However, a growth spurt following his impressive rookie season in 305ci winged sprint cars left the 14-year-old and his race team scrambling to find a new chassis to accommodate his taller frame for the 2018 season.

“I guess I grew a little more than we expected, about five inches taller,” he said. “We got the seat as low as we could and my head still stuck above the roll cage.”

His mother took to social media with the dilemma and an answer came quickly in the form of Tim Merrill of Fremont, Ohio. Merrill, who has campaigned 305ci sprint cars for his son and lately for driver Jamie Miller, had a tall cage Maxim.
“Tim is going to let us use the frame,” Adams said. “Thank goodness he came through for us.”

After just one year of racing 600cc micro sprints, Adams jumped into the bigger, more powerful 305ci sprints last year. He made an impressive 18 A Mains in his rookie campaign against arguably the toughest 305ci winged sprint car drivers in the country. Adams was named Rookie of the Year in the division at Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio.

“The biggest thing I learned last year was I have to trust my car and the other drivers around me,” he said. “I focused a little too much on where everyone else was going and where my car was going. I need to relax and race.”

Adams said the new car is ready to go for this Friday’s scheduled opener at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio. He said the family-owned team plans to compete every Friday at Attica Raceway Park and Saturdays at Fremont Speedway.

“We want to follow the FAST series as much as we can, too, depending on my dad’s work schedule,” he added. “I’m really excited for 2018. We have notes now and we know what changes we have to make during the course of the night. I have all my sponsors back. It’s great to have all these people believe in me and support me.”
