Adams Continues Learning Curve With New Sprint Car

Inside Line Promotions – FREMONT, Ohio (April 25, 2018) – Justin Adams, who is in his sophomore season of 305ci sprint car racing, knows he will learn every time he hits the track.

Last weekend provided a great classroom setting as he and his family-owned team are learning about setups and Adams is learning how to run the cushion of the track.

The action began on Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio. Adams started third in his heat race, but struggled and ended ninth. That relegated him to a tail starting spot in the A Main and he finished 17th to close the night.

“The car we had last year we could never get freed up,” he said. “We have a new chassis this year and it’s the exact opposite. We can’t seem to tighten it up enough.”

Friday was Adams’ 15th birthday and he celebrated by handing out cupcakes to some fans.

“It’s all about helping to get new fans and keeping everyone excited about being at the track,” he said. “It was a great birthday.”

Adams kicked off the competition on Saturday at Fremont Speedway by qualifying 19th quickest before he started last in his heat race and drove to a fourth-place finish.

“That heat was the highlight of the year so far,” he said. “The car felt pretty good. Then for the feature dad put the wing up high and I talked him into lowering it, but I should have let him put it where he wanted.”

Adams finished 15th and gained confidence.

“I finally went up to drive the cushion,” he said. “Last year I just stayed on the bottom and tried to bring the car home in one piece and earn the other drivers’ respect. Feeling the car hit the cushion, it’s pretty awesome.

“We had Bobby Sears come over to the shop after the weekend and he gave us some pointers to try to tighten the car up. We are all still learning, but I have a great bunch of people behind me and we will get there.”

There will be no racing for Adams this week, but he plans to get back on track May 4 at Attica Raceway Park and May 5 at Fremont Speedway as the JLH General Contractor FAST 305 Championship Series presented by Engine Pro kicks off the 2018 season.

“We will probably race most of the FAST shows,” he said. “I couldn’t commit to the full schedule because of school and basketball this fall, but next year we plan to do the entire FAST schedule.”
