Inside Line Promotions – FREMONT, Ohio (April 25, 2018) – Chris Andrews rebounded from a mechanical problem to earn a runner-up finish last weekend.

Andrews and the Burmeister Racing team took on the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, on Friday. He qualified eighth in his group, placing him in the next-to-last row of his heat race. He advanced two positions, but missed a lock-in spot to the A Main.

“We adjusted on the car and got it better for the B Main and were able to transfer,” he said. “Unfortunately, we burned a piston in the motor and couldn’t start the A Main. The cold air created a lot of horsepower and was hard on motors. It’s just one of those things.”

The team went to a backup engine the ensuing night during the season opener at Fremont Speedway. It was also the season-opening event for the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads FAST 410 Championship Series presented by Ohio Logistics.

Andrews started the night by setting quick time in qualifying followed by a third-place run in his heat race, putting him on the pole of the A Main.

“We fell back at the start and hung around the top four,” he said. “The last 10 laps the car was awesome. I was catching Craig (Mintz) and just ran out of time and we settled for second. The good news is I usually suck on slick tracks and we were good. We are finding the adjustments we need. It was a great way to start the FAST season.”

Andrews and the Burmeister team will compete at the inaugural Sprint Car World Championship this Friday and Saturday at Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio. The event has more than 80 entries and pays $100,000 to win.

“We raced there last year and got caught up in the big crash,” he said. “This event will be huge. Mansfield is becoming the premiere facility in Ohio. Cody Sommer is going to do some great things there for the fans and race teams.”

“I actually raced go-karts against Kirk Edwards when we were kids,” Andrews said. “He called up one day out of the blue and said he wanted to sponsor our race car. He and his brother, Kent, own Mapleview Farms and farm a ton of acres in the area. I’m excited to get them involved in racing.”
