Adams Earns First Sprint Car Heat Race Win and Solid Weekend Results

Inside Line Promotions – FREMONT, Ohio (May 31, 2018) – Justin Adams, who is only in his second year behind the wheel of a 305ci sprint car, got his first heat race win last weekend.

Adams started fourth in his heat and went on to record the win last Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio. Unfortunately, during the redraw for his feature starting spot – one through 12 – he drew the No. 11.

“On the first start of that heat I figured everyone would go to the bottom and I laid back and was going to try a run up top,” he said. “Fortunately the initial start got called back. On the second try I held my line and passed in the turn. We had a caution and I was a little nervous on the restart and I started extremely slow, but once I got going the car was fantastic.”

Adams said before the A Main he and the crew misread the track, thinking with another sprint car and late model feature being run before them the track would slick off more. He capped the night with a 16th-place finish.

“We probably should have left the heat race setup on the car,” he said.

Adams competed at Fremont Speedway on Saturday. A bad pill draw sent him out last to qualify, which resulted in a last row starting position in a heat race.

“We tried something different on the car in the heat and we struggled,” he said. “We figured since were locked into the A Main we could give it a try. We won’t put that setup on the car again.

“Also in the heat I could smell something and the car seemed to bog down. We changed spark plugs and the smell went away, but we still didn’t have the power we had the night before. We just didn’t have the fuel pill we needed so lesson learned.”

The weekend concluded with a 15th-place result.

Adams will return to Attica Raceway Park this Friday and Fremont Speedway on Saturday.

He also noted new t-shirts should be available for fans within the next couple of weeks.
