Inside Line Promotions – FREMONT, Ohio (July 10, 2019) – Fresh off his first win of the year, Chris Andrews scored his best result of the season at Fremont Speedway last Saturday when he finished second after a rough outing the night before at Attica Raceway Park.

The weekend began on Friday at the oval in Attica, Ohio, where Andrews’ night started well as he qualified third quickest and drove from third to second in his heat race, putting him into the redraw for the feature. The two-time Attica Raceway Park track champion spun on the opening lap and came from the tail to score a 13th-place finish.

“At the start guys got bouncing over the cushion and I checked up and got drilled from behind and spun out,” he said. “I got caught in the middle of a hornets’ nest. It’s tough to come from the tail in these deals. But the car was once again really good in the slick.”

The ensuing night a rain shower just as the gates opened at Fremont Speedway gave the racers a different racing surface than they have encountered the previous couple of weeks. Andrews again qualified third quickest and drove from fourth to second in his heat, putting him in the inversion for the feature.

“We led some laps early and Buddy (Kofoid) just flat drove around me,” he said. “It’s frustrating because you drive as hard as that kid is and he’s still five miles per hour faster than you. He’s got some phenomenal talent for such a young kid. But we were able to finish second. We still have a ways to go to get better at Fremont when it’s dry slick.”

Andrews currently sits fifth in the Kistler Racing Products/All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group championship standings. He is only 23 points behind in the 410ci standings at Attica Raceway Park. His second-place finish Saturday at Fremont Speedway vaulted him from 10th to seventh in the track’s standings.

“We have a good shot at the Attica title, which would be very cool,” he said. “Not many drivers have multiple championships at Attica, let alone in three different rides.”

Andrews will compete this Friday at Attica Raceway Park and Saturday at Fremont Speedway with the AFCS. Then he will challenge the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series drivers at Attica Raceway Park next Tuesday during the 31st annual Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic Presented by Racing Optics.

“I really think we have a good shot at a win this weekend and doing well against the Outlaws,” he said. “I just have to be aggressive and not make a mistake qualifying to put us in a good position every night.”
